Judith Brett’s and Amanda Lohrey’s comments on the ‘misogyny’ speech by Julia Gillard (‘They Had It Coming’ and ‘A Matter of Context’, November) were both necessary and timely. They pointed out the irrelevance and disconnectedness of many parts of the media and the hypocrisy of Abbott, Jones, Pyne, Slipper and their ilk. But staring us readers in the face was something they chose not to mention at all, for there on page 9 were the repugnant Sophie Mirabella and the deluded Bronwyn Bishop smirking and complicit, supporting Abbott under those offensive signs. Not a word.
