Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch Somali feminist, activist, writer and politician, was named by Time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world. She is famous for her outspoken criticism of Islam and her advocacy of freedom of speech, has been described as a ‘major hero of our times’ by Richard Dawkins, and has a fan base that includes Christopher Hitchens. Hirsi Ali is also one of the world’s most controversial political figures.
