Knuth, born in 1938, is a renowned Professor Emeritus at Stanford University. He was responsible for transforming the skill of computer programming into the academic field of computer science, through his writing of the seminal multi-volume work, “The Art of Computer Programming”.
In addition to fundamental contributions in theoretical computer science, Knuth revolutionized typesetting through his creation of the TeX computer typesetting system.
