The rule of law has today become one of the prizes everyone claims to want, according to Martin Krygier. Even tyrants claim to be acting according to it - the trouble is that the rule of law is less understood than it is praised.
This lecture examines why those who have the rule of law find it hard to understand and those who need it find it hard to get, and how the rule of law historically has been conceived and utilised. With this Inaugural Lecture at UNSW, Martin Krygier marks his appointment as the first Gordon Samuels Professor of Law.
