Out to Sea: Refugee policy under the Rudd govt. Jessie TaylorJessie Taylor is a Melbourne lawyer and refugee advocate. She is the Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria Refugee Law Reform Committee, has sat on the board of The Justice Project since 2004 and is the Secretary of the Victorian Council for Civil Liberties (Liberty Victoria). In this public lecture, Taylor explores the difficulties surrounding Australia’s refugee policy and discusses the changes that have occurred to the policy under the Rudd government. Her talk summarises the recent report 'Behind Australian Doors: Examining the Conditions of Detention of Asylum Seekers in Indonesia', which she wrote after a fact-finding mission to Indonesia in July 2009.
