In her speech at the NSW state ALP conference yesterday, the Prime Minister studiously avoided the recent 'war' with the Greens.
Whether this indicates she disagrees with it or is simply happy to let the back-room boys do the brawling is unclear.
But now she would like to return the conversation to safer territory, 'heartland' Labor territory: industrial relations and workers' rights.
After pointing to the government's basically sound management of the economy, she laid out the ground on which the next federal election should be fought: "If they've started accusing us of a class war, at least they've stopped accusing us of not knowing whose side we're on."
It's clear who the 'they' are. The more interesting part will be finding out who the 'we' are.
