My youth matches that of Kate Jennings, down to the Bathurst burr on the end of the hoe. Later, in the ’80s, I lived on a station 100 kilometres from Broken Hill. Kate uses the word “boomer” three times to mean a large roo. I’ve drunk with roo shooters and I’ve been involved in roo research, but I’ve never heard “boomer” used outside a Rolf Harris song.
