The article about Syria (‘Secret Worlds’, December 2010–January 2011) reveals that its author, Robert Dessaix, is not only a tourist, as he claimed before going to Syria, but a writer with hidden intentions to distort the image of Syria. It is very obvious that the author chose to snatch images close to his eyes (rubbish, pollution, traffic, yellow villages) as superficial issues, to cover his lack of knowledge of Syrian history and culture. We wish that he had been able to depict to your respectable readers the diversity of the Syrian society in which its people are living in the most coherent and beautiful image of tolerance, peace and harmony.
