Key Thinkers: Kurt Gödel and the limits of mathematics. Mark ColyvanPart 1 | Part 2 In this Key Thinkers (Sydney Ideas) presentation, Professor Mark Colyvan, Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Sydney Centre for the Foundations of Science, discusses the ideas of Kurt Gödel. Kurt Gödel was one of the foremost mathematicians and logicians of the 20th century. He studied the limitations of mathematics, the most significant of his ideas being his celebrated incompleteness theorem, which tells us that there are mathematical "blind spots", that traditional methods of proof cannot access. These results are thought to have had far-reaching consequences for computing and for our understanding of the nature of the human mind.
