John van Tiggelen is a journalist and the editor of the Monthly. His book Mango Country: A Journey Beyond the Brochures of Tropical Queensland was short-listed for the Colin Roderick Award for Australian literature in 2004. He has been published in The Best Australian Essays 2001 and 2008.
