Contemporary visions of sexuality in China. Jin Xing and Audrey Yue

Print

Part 1 | Part 2

Jin Xing, a Chinese choreographer, the only son of Korean immigrants, trained in ballet in the army, became a colonel, won national competitions, then studied modern dance in New York and taught in Europe. He had a sex change operation in the mid-1990s and she now models, acts in movies, leads her own dance group and lives with her adopted kids in Shanghai.

At this Asialink event, Jin Xing and Dr Audrey Yue discuss modern conceptions of beauty and sexuality in China.

Dr Audrey Yue, a Cultural Studies academic at the University of Melbourne, is currently working on a book project on the development and impact of creative industry policy on cultural and sexual citizenships in Singapore and contemporary queer Asian migration practices in Australia.
