Following an introduction by Tom Keneally, Anna Funder delivers the third public lecture in the 2008 series of Sydney PEN Voices: The 3 Writers Project. Speaking on the subject of courage - in particular its relationship with political power - she begins with an account of the final actions of Russian journalist Anna Anna Politkovskaya (with whom she shared a newspaper column). Anna Funder is the author of Stasiland, stories of people who heroically resisted the communist dictatorship of East Germany and of people who worked for its secret police, the Stasi.
